Tianjin Synthetic Material Research Institute (TSMRI) established in 1957 is one of the core institutes in Tianjin.

TSMRI is the R&D base and professional producer of high polymer materials and fine chemicals in China. There are more than 600 findings of R&D in the synthetic and applied fields of epoxy resins, polyurethane, special resins and organic chemical compound, among which over 80 achievements have won the prize awarded by the government. Many of them are originated and advanced level at home and abroad. On the bases of the achievements, we have developed chemicals for toner, electric apparatus and automobile, chemicals for making paper, biomedical polymer sand forming a complete set for war industry, additives and adhesives. These products have been widely used in electrics, automobile, IT, medicine, building, papermaking, fabric and national defense. They are in great demand both at home and abroad, with excellent reputation.

Our institute consists of 6 enterprise departments, 1 chemical analysis center, 1 information center with 3 subsidiary holding companies and 3 shareholding companies. Tianjin Quality Inspection Unit (No.3) is in our institute.

Thermosetting resin published by TSMRI is a National S&T Core Journal. The journal mainly covers the recent developments and the latest achievements in epoxy resin, unsaturated polyester and other thermosetting resins.
